The popular and easy climbing destination, Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse Peak would let you feel the super dazzling panoramic views of Khumbu valleys from the summit. Our Trekking Group
The climbing group to Island Peak Climbing in Nepal depends on the number of persons. Normally, we take in 1-10 persons in a group. However, if you are in a bigger group of more than 10 persons, we can manage the Everest Island Peak Climbing accordingly. The maximum number '10' is the outcome of generally organized group treks. But, we are good at organizing treks for any group size you require.
Besides the trekking group, we have our local staffs to assist you as well. Trekking does not just mean traveling around; it will be more rewarding if you can gain good bunch of information of the areas you travel. So, we provide you with guides for that and in order to assure easy travel experience, we have porters who would carry on your luggage. We will facilitate you with 1 porter for 2 persons, 1 porter carrying maximum of 20 kg weight.

For trekking group of 1 to 5 people, we provide – 1 Guide and Porter (2 trekkers: 1 porter).
For trekking group of more than 5 people, we provide – 1 Guide, 1 Assistant Guide and Porter (2 trekkers: 1 porter)
Accomodation and Meals
Our overnight stay would be on Tea Houses/lodges and Camp Tent mostly during Island Peak Climbing. Twin sharing comfortable beds and common bathroom will be provided. The place is clean and hygienic. However, if you require a single supplement accommodation, it can also be made available on request at an additional cost of US$ 200. But still you need to be aware that single supplement accommodation may not be available at all the places during your Island Peak Climbing Nepal.
During Camp stays in Island Peak Expedition at various destinations, we will be providing full board meals that include dry foods, packed foods and liquors. We will shop prior to camp stay and provide you with meals you would like to have.
Also, our Island peak Expedition would let you experience typical Nepali food, special mountain foods and other cuisines including international cuisine like Indian, Tibetan, Italian, and Continental. You can always make your choices from the food menu available there. We will have breakfast and dinner at tea house/guest house whereas we will have lunch on our way.
While in Kathmandu, your accommodation is at tourist standard hotels facilitated with Attached Bath, A/C, 24 hours running hot/cold shower, Internet service and others. The facilities provided here is of 2 to 3 star standard hotel. We offer welcome dinner, farewell dinner and breakfasts during your stay in Kathmandu. Other meals as well as your other personal expenses will be from your own pocket during your stay in Kathmandu. Full board meals (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, and Tea/Coffee) are included during Island peak trekking once you leave Kathmandu.
Transportation
The means of transportation are private cars/vans, public bus and planes. Pick up and drop from airport to hotel, and hotel to airport will be done by the vehicles of Imperial Nepal Treks during Island Peak Climbing in Nepal.
Our trekking will start with a flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. From Lukla, there is no transport and we will walk all the way to our destination. Coming back to Lukla upon the completion of Climbing Island Peak, we take back flight from Lukla to Kathmandu again.
Safety and Precaution
It is necessary that you take in good precaution during your travel to avoid any difficulties in your Island Peak Climbing in Nepal. As the Everest Island Peak Climbing leads to higher altitude range, you need some trustworthy, experienced, qualified and well-equipped people around you. Your safety is assured by the local trek guide and other staffs.
Since these hikes take you on the remote Himalayan region, it is very essential that you are accompanied with the very experienced, qualified and well-equipped leader such that your trek runs safe and successful one. Health Issues
Regarding health issues, we are well aware that you are likely to get Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Going up high at faster pace is too harmful and can be fatal as well because of less oxygen. Some general symptoms of AMS are

Due to this, we need good time to adapt in the current environment and thus we have planned our itineraries in such a way that we get enough time for acclimatization to ensure your health safety.
A good planning for Island peak trekking is a must to minimize the health risks with problems like AMS. And if you are a patient of heart, lungs or blood disease, it is very important that you consult with your doctors and familiarize yourself with the remedies for the diseases before climbing island peak Nepal.

Imperial Nepal Treks organizes a full day city tour around Kathmandu Valley. The aim behind is to let you have the know-how of the Kathmandu city, the city of monuments, temples and monasteries such as Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, Swoyambhunath, Changu Narayan, Budhhanilkantha and many others. We will also take you to Nagarjun hill for pre-climbing experience over the rocks. You will be able to familiarize yourself with climbing if you haven’t been a part of it before. We will provide you leisure time for rest and preparation for final departure that is scheduled for the next day.
On this day, we offer you a welcome dinner at a typical Nepali Restaurant where you will taste different varieties of Nepali food. Your overnight accommodation remains unchanged.
We start our trek with a charming flight to Lukla from Kathmandu after having a breakfast early morning. Once we arrive at Lukla, we head towards Phakding that takes around 4 hours of walk. On our way to Phakding, we will observe beautiful stone walls, painted and non-painted mani stones, view of Kusum Khangkaru mountain, and finally, reach Phakding.
Phakding is the first viewpoint of Kongde Ri mountain range. Also, 500 years old Pemacholing Monastery exists here. Our accommodation would be in a tea house or lodge on full board basis.
From Phakding, we walk towards Namche Bazaar, our second destination of the Everest Base Camp Trek. Passing by Rimshung Monastery and Uchhecholing Monastery, we climb up along the trail and visit Sagarmatha National Park. You can have the internet access here. Moving forward, we cross Larbha Dobhan and taking a further step ahead, we will witness the first view of Mount Everest. Climbing up the path, we are finally at Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar is the main gateway to Everest, you will find colorful Khumbu villages, Banks, Money Exchanger, Internet café and overall all the facilities you can find in the city. On Saturday, a special market appears here, people come here to sell their products and buy things necessary for them. Our accommodation would be in a tea house or lodge on full board basis.
This day is the rest day as we need enough time for acclimatization; however, if you are willing to hike for some time then we take you to famous Everest View Hotel that takes around 3 hours to catch glimpses of Mt. Everest. On our way back, we'll visit Hilary and Sherpa museum. You will get teahouse or lodge accommodation in full board basis.
Heading towards Tengboche from Namche, the first view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, Taboche, Kangtega and Thamserku is witnessed. Moving forward, we pass by an Army Barrack at Phunke Tenga and arrive at Tengboche. Tengboche is famous for the Buddhist Monastery, we visit and explore the monastery. Our accommodation would be in a tea house or lodge on full board basis.
Starting the early morning by visiting the Tengboche monastery located in the heart of Tengboche, we descend through the forests and step up to Deboche witnessing the wonderful views of Everest. We then walk along Pangboche valley passing through lush vegetation. Moving uphill from here, the greeneries vanish and walking through the ridge we reach Pheriche, the windy village. A small helipad for helicopters is available here to rescue people during emergencies. The Tokyo Medical University Clinic here offers a class on mountain specialist at Pheriche. We stay overnight at Pheriche. Your accommodation would be in a lodge/teahouse where meals are provided on full board basis (breakfast, tea/coffee, lunch and dinner).
This rest day in Pheriche will let you ease your tiredness and walk nearby places. We can go for a hike to Nagarjuna peak to eye on the giant mountains Lhotse, Amadablam, Makalu and Island peaks. We then return back to Pheriche and spend the night there. Your accommodation would be in a lodge/teahouse where meals are provided on full board basis (breakfast, tea/coffee, lunch and dinner).
Our trek ascends towards north after going through a pleasant meadow walk. We reach Thukla and snap in the views of Mt. Pumori. You will notice the memorials of the climbers who were unsuccessful and died during expeditions. We will stop here for a while and climb upwards. Upon reaching Lobuche, you will be delighted with the views of Khumbu Glacier and Lobuche Glacier along with the mesmerizing faces of Lobuche, Kongma Tse and Mahalangur peak. We stay here for an overnight. Your accommodation would be in a lodge/teahouse where meals are provided on full board basis (breakfast, tea/coffee, lunch and dinner).
Following the pathways, we head towards our next stop Gorakshep. We come across Pyramid, Lobuche pass at 5110m, and Gorak shep Tsho Lake at Gorakshep. We have lunch at Gorakshep and stepping up, passing by Camp and Pumori B.C., we reach Everest Base Camp (5364). We come back to Gorakshep for an overnight stay in a tea house or lodge on full board basis.
In order to snap in the breathtaking morning view, the sun rays over the snow-capped Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and others, we walk towards Kala Patthar at an altitude of 5550m. From Kala Patthar, we descend towards Dingboche via Lobuche and finally stay at Lobuche for teahouse or lodge accommodation in full board basis
From Dingboche, we ascend for Chhukhung Valley. This trek is a short one and we can cover it within 3 hours. Eying on the Mani stones, we reach Chhukhung, a hidden valley near Island Peak where we will be preparing for camping and climbing. The valley is surrounded by the big glaciers like Nuptse Glacier, Lhotse Nup Glacier, Lhotse Glacier, Ama Dablam Glacier and Chhukung Glacier. The views of Chukhung Ri and Island Peak appears wonderful from here. Your accommodation would be in a lodge/teahouse where meals are provided on full board basis (breakfast, tea/coffee, lunch and dinner).
Trekking along the icy trails of glaciers, we follow the Island Peak Trek trail and move carefully on the steep ways. First, we walk towards the southern part and after a while, we turn east. Walking along the streamside, we move uphill towards Island Peak Base Camp leaving the way to Amphulapcha that lies on the southeast. Passing by Imja Tsho and Amphulabsta Tsho, we reach the base camp of Island peak. The dazzling Island Peak appears stunning and we stay overnight at a tented camp. Meals are provided on full board basis. Packed foods, dry foods and liquors will be served mostly during tent camp stay.
Having breakfast, we move for High Camp. We pass through the narrow slopes and enter a steep rock channel. The guides assisting you will demonstrate you the walking style and the use of climbing gears like climbing boots, crampons, ice axe and others. You will also be taught to use the ropes in order to move up and down. Prior peak climbing training is not mandatory for Island Peak Climbing but, it is likely that you will be more confident if you have taken previous training. This climbing to high camp will make lots of things easier for you regarding the climbing techniques. We stay overnight at a tented camp. Meals are provided on full board basis. Packed foods, dry foods and liquors will be served mostly during tent camp stay.
We start very early as we need to climb the summit before noon. It is because the winds will become a barrier in the afternoon. We need to pass through short rock steps before stepping into the right side of the gully. Our route then leads to an exposed traverse of the summit glacier and we need to rope up for the glacier because of the several crevasses it contains. Our guides will be fixing the ropes; so, you need not worry much regarding it and you'll able to cross it without difficulty. After crossing a 100 m ice slope, we will be on the summit of Island Peak then; you'll be thrilled with the views around and the success you've achieved after climbing Island Peak. Taking the pictures of our success, we descend back to Chhukhung and stay overnight there. Your accommodation would be in a lodge/teahouse where meals are provided on full board basis (breakfast, tea/coffee, lunch and dinner).
Taking further steps towards Tengboche, we come to Dingboche first. The trail consists of mani stones around Dingboche. Snapping the Everest views, we descend along the Imja River with some flat and steep trails. The trail is mostly downhill as we have already crossed the main point of our climbing, i.e. Island Peak Climbing. We arrive at Pangboche where lies the Pangboche Gompa, Kani (Archway) and big chorten. Passing by the National Park office at Deboche, we finally step in Tengboche. Tengboche is one of the iconic places to stay as there exists a big Monastery, tea houses, lodges, large field with campsites and majestic beautiful peak Ama Dablam appearing like tower right in front of us. Your accommodation would be in a tea house or lodge on full board basis.
On our way to Namche, strolling along the rhododendron and juniper trees, we enter the place called Phunke Thanka, where an army barracks lies. We cross the well-decorated bridge over Dudh Koshi River and trail descends through pine forests. Then, we reach Sansa where we will notice wildlife of snow leopards, mountain goats, pheasants and others. Heading from here, we reach Khyangjuma and little further from here is the first viewpoint of Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, Taboche, Kangtega and Thamserku. Descending towards Namche, we find Tenzing Norgay Stupa and finally arrive at Namche, our destination for today. Your accommodation would be on full board basis in teahouse or lodge.
Walking down from here, we pass the Everest viewpoint and Larja Dobhan. Following back the same trail towards Lukla via Phakding and the same glorious views as well the Sherpa valleys around, we step in Lukla. Coming nearer to the point of beginning of this wonderful journey, we enjoy the last memories of our trek with verdant greeneries all around. We will stroll around the Lukla and also reconfirm the flight ticket on this day. Rejoicing the very last moments of our Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo, we celebrate and have dinner with the crew members. We stay in a hotel at night where you will get meals on full board basis.
We will take in Lukla to Kathmandu flight that is around 30 to 40 minutes. You will meet the team of Imperial Nepal who will drop you at the Hotel you stayed before (unless changed). As this is the last day, we enjoy the farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with live music and rejoice the moments.
The representatives from Imperial Nepal Treks will drop you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and assist you in your final departure from Kathmandu. We bid our last goodbyes and you will head towards your destination.
What is trekking peak?
- Trekking peaks allow you to climb to your chosen summit and back in a day from each Base/High Camp. The routes we use are chosen for their objective safety and sometimes involve easy angled snow slopes, straightforward ridges and occasionally minor scrambling. Trekking peaks are generally between 5000m to below 7000m. The climbing permits for these peaks can be obtained from Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). These peaks are also called NMA Trekking Peaks.
Who can climb a peak?
- There are no restrictions to obtain climbing permit and anyone with appropriate fitness and skills can attempt a peak climbing. Non-technical climbs can be attempted by a fit trekker with little or no climbing experience. For technical climbs one needs to have an appropriate level of climbing experience.
I have never climbed before. Can I go for peak climbing?
- There is always first time for everything including peak climbing. There are non-technical peaks, which can be climbed safely by a fit trekker and even slightly technical peaks can be attempted by a novice climber with a professional climbing guide.
What are physical fitness criteria to climb a peak in Nepal?
- To climb high elevation peak the health and fitness is a paramount criteria. The level of fitness required is proportional to peak elevation and route difficulty and length.
What is climbing permit?
- Climbing Permit for trekking peaks is a legal document issued by the Nepal Mountaineering Association authorizing the climber to attempt the climb on designated peak or route. Attempting a climb without permit is illegal.
What if I need medical assistance at some point during the trip?

What risks are associated with the types of climbing that Imperial Nepal organizes?
- The adverse effects of altitude are the most common risk associated with trekking. In case of altitude sickness, guides will lead individuals down the mountain and seek medical care.
