The popular and easy climbing destination, Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse Peak would let you feel the super dazzling panoramic views of Khumbu valleys from the summit. In this peak climbing in Nepal, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Chukhung appear very close to Island Peak. You will also witness the frozen waves of Lhotse Shar Glacier and the red granite mass of Makalu Mountain during Island Peak Trek which is absolutely a mind-blowing thrill to feel.

Trek Route

For trekking groups of 1 to 5 people, we provide 1 experienced government license holder guide Guide and Porter (2 trekkers: 1 porter). For the trekking group of more than 5 people, we provide – 1 Guide, 1 Assistant Guide, and Porter (2 trekkers: 1 porter)
Accommodations and Meals
Our overnight stay would be on Tea Houses/lodges and Camp Tent mostly during Island Peak Climbing. Twin sharing comfortable beds and a common bathroom will be provided. The place is clean and hygienic. However, if you require a single supplement accommodation, it can also be made available on request at an additional cost of US$ 200. But still, you need to be aware that single supplement accommodation may not be available at all the places during your Island Peak Climbing Nepal.
During Camp stays in Island Peak Expedition at various destinations, we will be providing full board meals that include dry foods, packed foods, and liquors. We will shop before camp stay and provide you with meals you would like to have.
Also, our Island Peak Expedition would let you experience typical Nepali food, special mountain foods, and other cuisines including international cuisine like Indian, Tibetan, Italian, and Continental. You can always make your own choices from the food menu available there. We will have breakfast and dinner at the tea house/guest house and we will have lunch on our way.
While in Kathmandu, your accommodation is at tourist standard hotels facilitated with an Attached Bath, A/C, 24-hour running hot/cold shower, Internet service, and others. The facilities provided here are of 2 to 3-star standard hotels. We offer welcome dinner, farewell dinner, and breakfasts during your stay in Kathmandu. Other meals as well as your other personal expenses will be from your pocket during your stay in Kathmandu. Full board meals (Breakfast, Lunch and dinner, and Tea/Coffee) are included during Island peak trekking once you leave Kathmandu.
Health Issues
Regarding health issues, we are well aware that you are likely to get Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Going up high at faster pace is too harmful and can be fatal as well because of less oxygen. Some general symptoms of AMS are

- Rapid pulse (heart rate)
- Shortness of breath with exertion
Due to this, we need good time to adapt in the current environment and thus we have planned our itineraries in such a way that we get enough time for acclimatization to ensure your health safety.
A good planning for Island peak trekking is a must to minimize the health risks with problems like AMS. And if you are a patient of heart, lungs or blood disease, it is very important that you consult with your doctors and familiarize yourself with the remedies for the diseases before climbing island peak Nepal.
Safety and Precaution
You must take good precautions during your travel to avoid any difficulties in your Island Peak Climbing in Nepal. We will Imperial Nepal Treks will be there to welcome you at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu. We will pick you and shift you in a Kathmandu hotel as per booking for an overnight accommodation
Early morning depend on flight time our guide will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the Tribhuvan Internation Airport to board an early morning flight to Lukla. After 35 minute scenic flight, once we arrive at Lukla, Our guide introduce our trekking porter prepare all luggage and we head towards Phakding that takes around 4 hours of walk. On our way to Phakding, we will observe beautiful stone walls, painted and non-painted main stones, view of Kusum Khangkaru Mountain, and finally, reach Phakding.
Phakding is the first viewpoint of Kongde Ri mountain range. Also, 500 years old Pemacholing Monastery exists here. Our accommodation would be in a tea house or lodge on full board basis.
Our second destination is Namche Bazar, Early morning after breakfast in Phakding, we walk towards Namche Bazaar, Passing by Rimshung Monastery and Uchhecholing Monastery, and we climb up along the trail and visit Sagarmatha National Park. You can have the internet access here. Moving forward, we cross Larbha Dobhan, and taking a further step ahead, we will witness the first view of Mount Everest. Climbing up the path, we are finally at Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar is the main gateway to Everest, you will find colorful Khumbu villages, Banks, Money Exchanger, an Internet café, and all the facilities you can find in the city. On Saturday, a special market appears here, people come here to sell their products and buy things necessary for them. Our accommodation would be in a tea house or lodge on full board basis.
This day is the rest day as we need enough time for acclimatization; however, if you are willing to hike for some time then we take you to famous Everest View Hotel that takes around 3 hours to catch glimpses of Mt. Everest. On our way back, we'll visit Hilary and Sherpa museum. You will get teahouse or lodge accommodation in full board basis.
Heading towards Tengboche from Namche, the first view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, Taboche, Kangtega and Thamserku is witnessed. Moving forward, we pass by an Army Barrack at Phunke Tenga and arrive at Tengboche. Tengboche is famous for the Buddhist Monastery, we visit and explore the monastery. Our accommodation would be in a tea house or lodge on full board basis.
Starting the early morning by visiting the Tengboche monastery in the heart of Tengboche, we descend through the forests and step up to Deboche, witnessing Everest's wonderful views. We then walk along Pangboche valley passing through lush vegetation. Moving uphill from here, the greeneries vanish, and walking through the ridge we reach Dingboche the windy village. Your accommodation would be in a lodge/teahouse where meals are provided on a full board basis (breakfast, tea/coffee, lunch, and dinner).
This day is the rest day as we need enough time for acclimatization. After Breakfast, we hike around Dingboche Village to explore the view of Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam and other towering peaks. The Mani Stone of this place lures trekkers of this place. In the evening, spend your time with crew members, make internet calls with your family members, and share your collected memories with them. Then, we spend the night at a lodge in Dingboche.
The Day after breakfast at dingboche heading to treks on Chhukhung Valley. We get into the lodge, where we meet our climbing guide (or you have Climbing guide with you from Kathmandu). This Day our climbing guide will introduce about rules and formalities briefly for the following day’s climb. Meanwhile, we too check all our necessary stuff which is needed during the trek. we spend the night at a lodge in Chhukhung.
Trekking along the icy trails of glaciers, we follow the Island Peak Trek trail and move carefully on the steep ways. First, we walk towards the southern part and after a while, we turn east. Walking along the streamside, we move uphill towards Island Peak Base Camp leaving the way to Amphulapcha that lies on the southeast. Passing by Imja Tsho and Amphulabsta Tsho, we reach the base camp of Island peak. The dazzling Island Peak appears stunning and we stay overnight at a tented camp. Meals are provided on full board basis. Packed foods, dry foods and liquors will be served mostly during tent camp stay.
We start very early as we need to climb the summit before noon. This is because the winds will become a barrier in the afternoon. We need to pass through short rock steps before stepping onto the right side of the gully. Our route then leads to an exposed traverse of the summit glacier and we need to rope up for the glacier because of the several crevasses it contains. Our guides will be fixing the ropes; so, you need not worry much regarding it and you'll able to cross it without difficulty. After crossing a 100 m ice slope, we will be on the summit of Island Peak then; you'll be thrilled with the views around and the success you've achieved after climbing Island Peak. Taking pictures of our success, we descend back to Dingboche and stay overnight there. Your accommodation would be in a lodge/teahouse where meals are provided on a full board basis (breakfast, tea/coffee, lunch, and dinner).
On our way to Namche, strolling along the rhododendron and juniper trees, we enter the place called Phunke Thanka, where an army barracks lies. We cross the well-decorated bridge over Dudh Koshi River and trail descends through pine forests. Then, we reach Sansa where we will notice wildlife of snow leopards, mountain goats, pheasants and others. Heading from here, we reach Khyangjuma and little further from here is the first viewpoint of Ama Dablam, Lhotse Shar, Taboche, Kangtega and Thamserku. Descending towards Namche, we find Tenzing Norgay Stupa and finally arrive at Namche, our destination for today. Your accommodation would be on full board basis in teahouse or lodge.
Walking down from here, we pass the Everest viewpoint and Larja Dobhan. Following back the same trail towards Lukla via Phakding and the same glorious views as well the Sherpa valleys around, we step in Lukla. Coming nearer to the point of beginning of this wonderful journey, we enjoy the last memories of our trek with verdant greeneries all around. We will stroll around the Lukla and also reconfirm the flight ticket on this day. Rejoicing the very last moments of our Everest Base Camp Trek via Gokyo, we celebrate and have dinner with the crew members. We stay in a hotel at night where you will get meals on full board basis.
We will take in Lukla to Kathmandu flight that is around 30 to 40 minutes. You will meet the team of Imperial Nepal who will drop you at the Hotel you stayed before (unless changed). As this is the last day, we enjoy the farewell dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with live music and rejoice the moments.
The representatives from Imperial Nepal Treks will drop you to Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and assist you in your final departure from Kathmandu. We bid our last goodbyes and you will head towards your destination.

What type of shape do I need to be in, is this trip for me?
- To prepare for a strenuous trek you should begin training at least two to three months before your departure. As a guideline, an hour of aerobic exercise three to four times per week would be considered a minimum requirement. The best preparation is bushwalking involving relatively steep ascents and descents. If you can manage a couple of valley floor to ridgeline ascents per comfortable and able to enjoy the trek to the fullest. They are physically strong, sharp-witted, and have an incredibly positive attitude towards a life that we would consider extremely tough. There is something about a trek in the Himalayas that draws you back time and time again. For keen walkers it is a paradise and even avowed non-walkers find that one foot just seems to follow the other, drawn by the appeal of what lies beyond.
Will somebody come to pick me up at the airport upon my arrival?

What sort of food can I expect in trekking?
- Most teahouses (lodges) in Everest Base camp trails cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian fare. Pasta, tuna bakes, noodles, potatoes, eggs, daal bhat(rice and lentils), bread, soup, fresh vegetables (variety depends on the season) and even some desserts like apple pies, pancakes, and some interesting attempts at custard. You will find a lot of garlic on the menu because it assists with acclimatization – eat some every day. In many larger villages you may find some meat items on the menu.
Is the food in mountain prepared to international standard in terms of safety?
- YES, the food is very safe during the trekking and we recommend you to eat the vegetarian and local food. Please follow the suggestion of our guide on the trek.
Is water provided and is there still water available at higher altitudes? Is it filtered/boiled? Readily available?
- Bottled water is easily available at the lodges and tea houses. You can buy bottled water at the cost of USD 2 at lower elevations to USD 4 to higher elevation per littler. You can also drink the normal tap or spring water if you bring the purifying aid with you.

What is the weather and temperature like in Climbing?

- During springtime, the average temperature is 0 degrees C with a maximum of 10 degrees C during sunny days and a minimum of -15 degrees C in the morning and at night for areas above 4000 meters.
I'm a vegetarian, is that a Problem?
- No problem at all because the lodges mostly serve vegetarian meals. We always recommend our clients to eat vegetarian meals to avoid food poisoning, eating heavy meals and non-vegetarian meals at high altitudes is not safe for the stomach.
Do your guides have trekking guide certificates from the Hotel Management and Tourism Center? Have they received first aid training for high altitude?
- Yes, they have all received a 45-day training from the Hotel Management and Tourism Center in Nepal. The guides have also received high-altitude first aid training from NMA.( Nepal Mountaineering Association)
What safety measures are in place? What safety equipment do your guides carry with them on a trek to deal with sickness/accidents?
- Our guides are well-trained for high altitude problems and first aid. They always carry the first aid kit bag during the trek. However, we still recommend you to bring your first aid kit as well. All our guides carry the local mobile phones and SAT phones for the emergency.
Do you know about how many miles the trek is?
- Total distance of the entire trek is about 75 miles.
Do we book our international flights to and from Nepal?
- Yes, you need to book your International flights.
Can I charge my digital camera or other equipments on my trip?
- These facilities will be available in most of the places in your hotel reception by paying some service charges
Is there any communication while we are on trekking?
- There are telephones in some villages along the trekking routes from which you can make international calls. All our guides are equipped with the local mobile phone. You may wish to pass the number of our guide to your family for the callback or you can make a call from the guide’s mobile and pay him directly for the international call too.
Can I use credit cards in the places I visit in trekking?
- No In Trekking you need a cash. Please change the currency in local Nepali Rupees before you go to the mountains.
How much additional money do I need per day?
- It depends on your spending habits. Generally, in Kathmandu, you can allocate USD 10 to USD 15 for a lunch and a dinner. USD 15 to USD 18 per person a day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolates, pay for the hot shower and a few drinks during the trekking.
Do I need to tip my guide and porters? How much would that be?
- This is a difficult thing to gauge. we recommend you to spend minimum 10% of your total trip cost for tipping entire local staffs, the ratio of tipping guide and porter will be given to you at the pre-trip meeting in Kathmandu before starting the trek.
What opportunities will I have for shower along the trek?
- Our guide he arrange some guesthouse with hot shower. And in rest of the places, hotel water in bucket will be provided for shower; it would cost you extra about USD 3-4 per shower.
Is Imperial Nepl staff insured?
- Our company insures all our trekking staff members, including guides, cooks, Sherpas and porters.
Can I add extra days to my trekking trip?
- Along your trek we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation and food.
Do you use yaks/porters on the trek or do we carry all of our own gear?
- Whilst on the trek, our porter will take care of your luggage. All you need to carry is your small day bag for your personal belongings like camera, water bottle, sun cream etc only.
Will there be a place to store items/clothing not required for the trek?
- The hotel in Kathmandu does provide the free storage services. So you can leave all your items that are not required for the trekking at your hotel.
Can I obtain the visa for Nepal upon on arrival at the airport?
- YES, you can obtain a visa easily upon your arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. Tourist Visa with Multiple Entry for 30 days can be obtained by paying US $ 40 or equivalent foreign currency. Similarly, Tourist Visa with Multiple Entry for 90 days can be obtained by paying US $ 100. Please bring 2 copies of passport size photos.
